The application date is postponed from 2019 to 2023

Feb 26, 2018 | Regulation (EU) 2016/425

We have received a new comunication from the European Commission that changes what has been comunicated so far about the PPE to be placed on the market. Products certified in accordance with the Directive can be placed on the market even after 21/04/2019, provided that the presumption of conformity to Directive and Regulation requirements is still valid.

In other words: products certified in accordance with currently valid harmonised standards can continue to be sold untill 21/04/2023 (as long as the safety and health requirements of Annex II of the Regulation coincide with those of the Directive).

Note that motorcycling clothing, which has not already been certified against the Directive, has to be certified against the Regulation starting from 21/04/2018.

This new interpretation reverses completely the indications received during the last months according to which it would have been necessary to issue EU Certificates for PPE placed on the market after 21/04/2019. This is clearly a breath of fresh air for all the traders who will have more time to update their certificates according to the Regulation (please find here the Guidance Document of the European Commission).

We would like to remind you that Ricotest can already issue the Eu certificates based on the new Regulation.
